Meet Our Staff

At York Family Eyecare, we understand that every patient’s experience is a result of many factors, but especially how you are treated.

Dr. Pelletier’s kindness and rapport with his patients is echoed by his entire staff. He makes a point of hand-picking employees that are friendly, helpful, and eager to help you. The result is a top-notch team that has a reputation for outstanding care and service. We think you deserve it.

Here is Dr. Pelletier’s hardworking staff:

Janet, Patient Experience Manager & Technician

Janet is a lifelong York resident, and has worked alongside Dr. Pelletier since 2004–an impressive tenure. Well-loved by our patients, she manages the office’s day-to-day operations to ensure that every patient experience is outstanding. Her ability to remember several thousand patients, and their individual needs, is amazing.

Janet is a “jackie” of all trades. She also acts as our insurance coordinator, provides screenings for patients, and can even adjust glasses!

When she’s not helping to run the practice, Janet writes lovely poetry, loves to bake her grandmother’s St. Louis coffee cake, and spends time with dogs and other animals.

Jennifer, Accounting Manager

Hailing from Fort Kent, Jennifer manages office bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and patient billing for York Family Eyecare. She and her husband were both YFE patients when Jennifer was originally hired in 2002.

With her years of experience, Jen knows the office inside and out, and is a helpful resource for staff and patients alike. She also helps out with patient reception, and works in our exam area performing visual field exams.

Jennifer and her family live in South Berwick. In her spare time, she knits beautifully, and is a “cool” and committed mom who loves to spend quality time with her two teenage daughters.

Beth, Receptionist & Technician

Beth is a welcoming, knowledgeable, and familiar face at our front reception area. She also possesses a lot of back-office experience, and helps with pre-screenings, dilations, and visual field tests when the office is busy. Her organizational skills help keep the office running smoothly.

This stylish staffer lives in Portsmouth, and has three grown children. Entertaining family and friends is a priority for Beth, as is a fitness regimen and spending time on the beach. Traveling to new places is on her bucket list.

Karin, Receptionist

Karin is new to our front office.  She brings her customer service background with her from many years of retail.  She loves helping people and the personal connections made with patients. She will be there to greet you when you come in and help you set up your appointments.

Karin currently lives in South Berwick with her husband. They love going on adventures together and exploring new places.  She is also a 200hr Certified Yoga Teacher and loves to paddleboard.

Merissa, Optometric Technician & Certified Paraoptometric

Merissa comes to us with extensive healthcare experience. Her clinical skills shine as she works closely with Dr. Pelletier to provide excellent direct support for every patient during their visit.

Originally from Dover, Merissa now lives in a 1920 Berwick farmhouse with her boyfriend. She relishes living near family and the ocean and the mountains, local winter skiing, and jaunts to faraway tropical spots.

Merissa is also crazy about her three “fur babies,” and even checks on their antics remotely via video monitor when she can’t be with them.

The most favorite part of Merissa’s job is helping to provide our youngest patients with the best possible eye care.

Kristen, Optician & Eyewear Stylist

Kristen was born in Bangor, grew up in the Catskill Mountains region of New York State, and recently relocated from Massachusetts to Dover, NH.

With a background in psychotherapy, Kristen is very attuned to the needs of our patients and loves to hear their personal stories. She has an artistic eye, which enables her to advise visitors on flattering frame options.

In her downtime, Kristen enjoys traveling to various hiking spots within New England. When she’s not hiking up a mountain, it’s music, cooking, crocheting, and art-making. She has the unique opportunity to hear her own voice in hometown grocery-store jingles that she recorded years ago, whenever she goes back for a visit!

Jess, Optometric Technician

Coming from a background in education, the pandemic prompted Jessica to branch out and try a different line of work. She is so glad to have found the wonderful team here at York Family Eyecare and enjoys having a job where she can help people and learn something new every day!

When she’s not at work, Jess likes to hike, read, write, and most importantly, participate in the Seacoast arts scene. She is a freelance stage manager who has been involved at various theatre venues in Maine and New Hampshire. When she’s not busy with her own productions, she enjoys seeing other local theatre and music performances.

Michele, Optometric Technician

As a medical technician, Michelle works closely, face-to-face with patients; she enjoys helping people and understands the importance of vision. Having always been interested in healthcare, she started out as a medical assistant in pediatrics, moved on to working as a CNA with the elderly and with patients who have dementia, took a detour and spent a season in administrative work, and with the recent pandemic, was able to re-focus and found a perfect spot here at York Family Eyecare.

Michele was born and raised in California, and moved herself and her family of all boys to Maine ten years ago.  She loves hiking, exploring new places, Italian food, being a mimzy, watching her boys play sports, and always has a smile on her face!
