Meet Our Staff
At York Family Eyecare, we understand that every patient’s experience is a result of many factors, but especially how you are treated.
Dr. Pelletier’s kindness and rapport with his patients is echoed by his entire staff. He makes a point of hand-picking employees that are friendly, helpful, and eager to help you. The result is a top-notch team that has a reputation for outstanding care and service. We think you deserve it.
Here is Dr. Pelletier’s hardworking staff:
Janet, Patient Experience Manager & Certified Paraoptometric
Janet is a lifelong York resident, and has worked alongside Dr. Pelletier since 2004–an impressive tenure. Well-loved by our patients, she manages the office’s day-to-day operations to ensure that every patient experience is outstanding. Her ability to remember several thousand patients, and their individual needs, is amazing.
Janet is a “jackie” of all trades. She also acts as our insurance coordinator, provides screenings for patients, and can even adjust glasses!
When she’s not helping to run the practice, Janet writes lovely poetry, loves to bake her grandmother’s St. Louis coffee cake, and spends time with dogs and other animals.
Jennifer, Accounting Manager
Hailing from Fort Kent, Jennifer manages office bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and patient billing for York Family Eyecare. She and her husband were both YFE patients when Jennifer was originally hired in 2002.
With her years of experience, Jen knows the office inside and out, and is a helpful resource for staff and patients alike. She also helps out with patient reception, and works in our exam area performing visual field exams.
Jennifer and her family live in South Berwick. In her spare time, she knits beautifully, and is a “cool” and committed mom who loves to spend quality time with her two teenage daughters.
Beth, Technician & Certified Paraoptometric
Beth is a welcoming, knowledgeable, and familiar face at our front reception area. She also possesses a lot of back-office experience, and helps with pre-screenings, dilations, and visual field tests when the office is busy. Her organizational skills help keep the office running smoothly.
This stylish staffer lives in Portsmouth, and has three grown children. Entertaining family and friends is a priority for Beth, as is a fitness regimen and spending time on the beach. Traveling to new places is on her bucket list.
Jennifer, Optical Manager & Eyewear Stylist
Originally from a teeny town in coastal Virginia, Jennifer came to Maine less than a week after she graduated high school, and never looked back.
As the manager of our in-house optical boutique, Jennifer brings extensive experience in customer care. It’s clear that she loves helping people in her work. She especially enjoys her dual roles as both an educator and a stylist, with the end goal of “helping patients find frames they love and feel confident and beautiful in.”
Jennifer currently lives in North Berwick with her young son. Together with her boyfriend, the threesome enjoys playing cards and board games, cooking and baking, and doing scratch art together at home. She is happy to still live near the ocean as a lifelong beachgoer.
Michelle, Director of Marketing
A Boston-bred career marketing professional and longtime York resident, Michelle works both strategically and creatively to share YFE’s unique story.
Michelle’s experiences as a parent caregiver and advocate have made her passionate about the value of wellness and world-class healthcare.
Originally from Buffalo, Michelle and “her boys” live in a crooked 1770 home. She is an accomplished musician and writer.
Tom, Optometric Technician
& Certified Paraoptometric
Tom provides direct support to Dr. Pelletier in our screening and exam rooms, so that the doctor can be totally focused (pun intended) on every patient. A recent UNH graduate, Tom brings warmth and organizational skills that further enhance our patient experience.
Tom hails from Northwood, New Hampshire, and loves spending time on the NH lakes and in the White Mountains. He lives in a farmhouse and enjoys cooking and keeping several aquariums. Tom’s fish-keeping is especially impressive because he is also a cat-keeper.
Tom strives to build positive relationships during all parts of our patients’ visits. He is great with people, has a dry wit, and always finds the leaves.
Merissa, Optometric Technician
Merissa comes to us with extensive healthcare experience. Her clinical skills shine as she works closely with Dr. Pelletier to provide excellent direct support for every patient during their visit.
Originally from Dover, Merissa now lives in a 1920 Berwick farmhouse with her boyfriend. She relishes living near family and the ocean and the mountains, local winter skiing, and jaunts to faraway tropical spots.
Merissa is also crazy about her three “fur babies,” and even checks on their antics remotely via video monitor when she can’t be with them.
The most favorite part of Merissa’s job is helping to provide our youngest patients with the best possible eye care.
Our receptionist Kathy brings attention to detail and medical receptionist savvy to our front-desk operations. She makes sure that our patients are always feeling welcomed, heard, and fully supported.
Kathy was born in Canada, and lived in Maine and Vermont before settling in Rye Beach, NH. She is a water baby who loves the warm waters of the Caribbean, and enjoys walking, reading and decorating in her spare time.
With extensive experience serving customers and patients during her career, Kathy’s flair and interpersonal skills are strong. The most rewarding part of her job, she says, is “helping patients to feel comfortable and treasured.”
Kristen, Optician & Eyewear Stylist
Kristen was born in Bangor, grew up in the Catskill Mountains region of New York State, and currently commutes from Beverly, Massachusetts.
With a background in psychotherapy, Kristen is very attuned to the needs of our patients and loves to hear their personal stories. She has an artistic eye, which enables her to advise visitors on flattering frame options as she .
In her downtime, Kristen enjoys traveling to various spots within the United Kingdom to recharge. When she’s stateside, it’s hiking, cooking, crocheting, and art-making. She has the unique opportunity to hear her own voice in hometown grocery-store jingles that she recorded years ago, whenever she goes back for a visit!
